What to expect at your first counseling session?

During your first therapy session you will be establishing a connection with your therapist and getting to know one another. You will most likely be discussing your struggles and why you’ve decided to start therapy. This is a good time to express your goals and expectations moving forward, so that your therapist will be able to take the best approach to help you heal and move towards a healthier and happier life. Therapists are here to give you guidance and help you navigate your feelings and emotions. Therapy is a place where you should feel heard and understood. Always feel free to ask your therapist any questions or concerns you may have during the session!

How to find the right therapist?

The connection between you and your therapist is essential! Ultimately, your therapist is going to be your partner throughout your healing process. You will want to be sure your therapist is someone you feel comfortable with and that you feel is trustworthy. It’s best to find a therapist who specializes in what you're going through. This gives them more insight and understanding into what you’re struggling with. You can read about each of our therapists on our website to get an idea of who you believe will be the best fit for you. Our receptionist is familiar with each therapist’s specialties and qualities. She would be more than happy to assist you in determining which clinician would be right for you.
